Head with a headband and ornaments in the ears. The object was originally part of the whole body, probably a "ball game" player in a ritual costume, a warrior, or a dignitary.

The culture of Veracruz means the culture of the area of the northern and central part of today's Mexican state of Veracruz, existing in the first millennium AD. The main centers were the cities of El Tajin, Zapotal and Remojadas. Human sacrifices, especially in the context of the then popular "Ball Game" (nahuatl Ōllamaliztli) were the central theme of their lives.
